Sound Library collaboration

Scoring is often seen as being created all by one person, although that is true to an extent, collaboration in scores is very crucial aspect of creating a varied film score. Collaboration could be the score being composed by two artists or more, such as composer team Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. Or hiring artists to play on your score.

I play in a duo called irreversible, which consits of me and Alex Lemonidids, a keys/piano player. At the moment we are creating a lot of ambient and drone music, mainly with alex on a keyboard, and I will be using 4 track tape and microcassette, while also processing Alex’s keyboard through a variety of effects. One of the main goals for irreversible is to compose for film, tv, and collaborate with visual artists. As alex is a professional keyboardist and pianist, he will be a great collaborator to work with on the Sound Libraries. In particular with the second sound library ‘Lost in Fog’. As the tracks will consist of many piano and keys compositions, collaborating with Alex will be very beneficial. Here is an example of our work, we just started a monthly series of 20 second videos that we have filmed, scored and posted to social media. In the future we hope to collaborate with videographers, photographers, and other visual artists.

Having collaborators in some form helps your work, as there is another person with a different set of ears and skills. They can pick up on issues or ideas that you would of never thought of.
